When people act too friendly

Have you ever met someone who is super-friendly and nice to you and then you say or do something they disagree with and they abruptly turn sour on you?

I’ve encountered many of these. I’m wary of exaggerated friendliness and kindness because it’s usually not without strings attached. They love-bomb you because they expect something in return. And if you don’t deliver what they expect or agree with everything, they get upset.

Their friendliness was not real to begin with. If a person likes you, they will like you regardless of agreement or disagreement and regardless of return-on-time-investment. You know how you like some people regardless of whether they like you back? That’s real liking.
