The real self is powerful but doesn’t need to show its power, doesn’t need to assert itself, subdue others, get ahead, brag, show off, collect certificates, drop names, make connections, advertise, portray, present, perform, take revenge, win, achieve, hustle, be noticed, be applauded, be recognized, get attention, give back to society, signal virtue, generate revenue, prepare for the future, join a cause, etc.
Not that these things are wrong, but they are the world of the ego-self and its struggle for survival.
The real self goes about doing its job on Earth quietly, without fanfare.
Many ego-less people are invisible to the world. People don’t notice them even though they make a large impact. Everyday heroes are not on the news. Sometimes that person that nobody noticed surprises us the most.
The real self does the right thing even when nobody is watching. Lends a hand even when nothing is received in return.
The real self is not frantically creating, making, producing (which are great things in the right dose) and is therefore receptive, observing, noticing much, much more than those with a mind where the volume is up all the time.
The real self doesn’t need to prove its confidence and dominance because that’s what it already is. It does not need to justify, explain or apologize for its statements.
The real self does not need to take revenge because if it waits long enough it will see its adversaries deceased bodies floating down the river. The real self is patience because it knows that the Universe naturally self-corrects or balances and there’s a natural justice that never fails.
The real self appreciates small things, small gestures, small improvements because as-in-the-small, so-in-the-big.
The real self has no need to convince others because the real self knows.
The real self is humble and simple. Humble because it’s in awe at the grand opportunity and gift of life. Simple because that’s what life is.
