Sensing Magnetized Water

A group-exercise to prove extrasensory perception

Place two numbered glasses of water a few inches apart on a table. One person, the magnetizer stays in the room while the rest of the group leave. The magnetizer places both hands over and around one of the glasses for at least one minute.

The group returns and each person tries to sense which of the glasses has been magnetized. Each person writes the name of the magnetizer and the number of the glass.

Another magnetizer volunteers and the same procedure is repeated.

The group goes through the procedure again with a third magnetizer.

Then the group gathers and the first magnetizer discloses the glass number that was magnetized. Correct hits are counted. The same is done for the two other volunteers.

Note that a 50% hit-rate does not prove anything because the same result could be achieved by chance. 60% is good, 75% excellent and 90% masterful.

If you have achieved over 90% you have a group of intuitively advanced people and should make the experiment more difficult: Use 5 to 10 glasses instead of two.

If the results are below 60% then the experiment failed and should be repeated as follows: The group does a relaxation exercise before “guessing” and the magnetizer not only holds hands over the water but begins speaking words of blessing over the water. This will increase the number of correct “guesses”.

If your group has repeated this exercise for some time, it will become too easy. Results will always be above 90%. In that case you progress to advanced variations of the exercise. For example:

Placed in another room, the group visualizes the (already chosen) magnetizer magnetizing a particular numbered glass that the whole group has agreed on.

Each person writes which glass he or she “predicts” will be magnetized. After the visualization there is a minute of silence and no-mind / blank so that the visualization manifests.

The magnetizer then receives the signal to go ahead and magnetize one glass. The magnetizer then joins the group and reveals the number that was magnetized. The correct hits are counted. Anything above 60% is a success, but as a super-intuitive you should strive for at least 75%.

Again, this can be done at different levels of difficulty. Two glasses is the easiest but it can also be done with 5 to 10 glasses. Your group may require some practice, on different days before it reaches the same results as with the previous exercise.

If this is an exercise your group would like to stick with for some time, know there are many playful variations in which it can be done. But until good results are achieved, I’d stick with the basics, merely changing the amount of glasses over time.

Back in the early 2000s I did this exercise in my seminars with people who had never done it before. It succeeded each time.

If you’re a seminar-leader you might be thinking “But what if I have a group that doesn’t believe in things like this?” In that case your belief needs to be stronger. The belief of the seminar-leader can temporarily override doubts within the group, if that group is at the very least open minded to the possibility.
