Newborns and young infants react to falling objects and sudden noise with surprise, displeasure and sometimes crying. I’ve seen them stare at the fallen object as if they can’t understand why it fell.
At around 9 months of age, babies tend to intentionally drop objects such as toys or food from a table or high chair. Then they look down in surprise to see where it went.
Objects that don’t fall but float, such as helium balloons, appear to cause pleasure in most babies.
In my view this is because they came from a realm outside of our density or “without gravity”, a realm of floating objects and are only just learning what life is like on Earth.
