Nervousness = Suppressed Excitement

Nervousness = Suppressed Excitement.

Excitement = Energy.

Example: You see someone you’re attracted to. Heart-rate rises. “Butterflies in stomach”. Deeper breathing. More alert. The body releases chemicals that make you feel high.

This state is good. It’s the opposite of “heart sinking” when something bad happens.

For some it feels like “too much”, they suppress it. Then it’s experienced AS nervousness. The energy that felt pleasant is now unpleasant when flowed through a resistance-filter.

It gets “too much” if you have low self-respect. Then, the appearance of the attractive other is amplified to where it gets so strong you suppress it.

So:

1. Value yourself and others, not just others.

2. If there’s excitement, don’t resist it. Don’t judge, label, explain, justify. Feel it. Let it Be.

Some have trained themselves to lower their heart-rate, to get into alpha-brainwaves, to calm down. Nothing bothers them. That’s great, but the downside is that nothing excites them either.

Life is cold, hot, cool and warm, not just one side. If you’ve trained yourself into a dissociated alpha-state, you have access to your subconscious, are more creative and no longer easily distracted.

Too much time in calm is boring. So get back into an associated state, a warming up, more heat, fire, passion, action, adventure, romance and yes, even sometimes anger/aggression. They all teach that anger is “bad” but when it’s channeled into action or passion, heat-energy is great.

People who have trained themselves to cool down never get nervous. And people who have trained themselves to heat up never get bored. This is metaphorical but also physical: You can cool down an angry person with a splash for cold water and you can get a dull person going with sunlight.

Best wishes finding a good balance. ❄️🔥
