I experienced drowning, death, resurrection and teleportation – all in one day!
I was a teenager when me and a group of friends trespassed onto a hydroelectric power plant by climbing a high fence while wearing only swimming shorts.
Our destination was a wild river that traveled through the building. Electricity was generated by the water flowing downwards and through a turbine, but we used this downward flow as our “water slide”.
I’ve drowned three times throughout my life and this would be the second time.
The ride down the “slide” is a fantastic thrill. But at the bottom of it, once you leave the building and the river continues normally, there is a suction-whirl on the left. All my friends swam to the right to avoid the suction. I knew about the dangerous place but wasn’t paying attention and got sucked into it. It happened so quickly that I had no time to scream for help. I couldn’t swim back up and drowned.
A warm, glowing light surrounded me. I felt exuberant. I realized that we live our body BEFORE it dies, to be spared its pain. It felt like I had been picked up by an angel.
Then blackout.
The next thing I knew, I was at a spot far from the place I had drowned. I woke up in the grass, dazed. I stood up and wiped the grass and dirt of my skin. I was still wearing the swimming shorts and nothing else.
After a few minutes I recognized the place as a field that was maybe twenty miles far away from where I had drowned. I was nowhere near the river and didn’t know how I got there. My friends later related that they had looked for but not found me.
It felt awkward to get on public transportation with barely any clothes on, especially since the sun was setting.
It was funny arriving home and being asked by my parents why I wasn’t dressed and where my clothes and backpack were. “Stolen” I said. I didn’t share what happened because parents don’t need to know that their son is involved in dangerous activity.
