Combine word and movement to create new states

One of my teachings over the last decades has been to combine the power of the spoken word with movement and gesture to create new states, new energies or manifest certain outcomes.

The video below is from Waldorf School, where they teach children and adults a subject called “Eurythmy”. The school teacher is using the word Hallelujah in combination with motions that invoke and evoke what is being spoken about.

Pop-music-culture makes generous use of this principle, but does so unconsciously or for negative purpose. Some choreographers know that “things” are being manifested with a combination of their music, lyrics and dances. Rock, Pop and Hip Hop often summon grief, fear and anger through the lyrics and tone of voice and lock them into the muscles with certain motions.

I recommend you invent, make-up, create your own words and gestures of things you prefer to experience and ignore the low-quality-programming of pop-culture. You can make it awesome and beautiful. You can even come up with an entire choreography for your own purposes.
