Ancient Cosmology

Hildegard of Bingen was a mystic, painter and author who was born in the year I098. Through prayer she is said to have entered altered states of consciousness where she received visions.

One of her visions was the Cosmos shown here.

In the center we see Earth as three major landmasses (Which is true if we take 1 The Americas 2 Europe, Asia 3 Africa) divided by water and surrounded by a ring of water. After the cataclysm the ancients painted the ring of water as a ring of ice. Around that we see a ring of fire.

At the north pole (in pre-cataclysm days in the East) we find a pillar leading to the moon. Then the stars and above that the firmament and beyond that the realm of light.

This is unlike our modern view of the Cosmos, informed by NASA. But it’s similar to the Cosmology of the Greek astronomer Ptomely, similar to Mayan, Native American, Buddhist, Tartarian, Mongolian, Maori, Celtic, ancient Slavic, ancient Egyptian, ancient Sumerian, ancient Hebrew, ancient Germanic cosmology.

Hildegard of Bingen used contemplative prayer to arrive at her visions, NASA uses photoshop to display the Earth (or have you ever seen a real photo of the earth from afar?)
