Unusual powers among natural people

I was browsing a book called “The Aborigines of Tasmania” while researching an unrelated subject when I learned that, when they were encountered by the first anthropologists in the 1800s, they had unusual powers that modern people appear to have lost.

1. They didn’t get a cold in the cold

2. Their teeth stayed healthy without toothpaste

3. They had superhuman perception

4. They sensed water psychically

5. Salt baths and Magnetism were used for Healing

And yet, the same book that admits to this unusual powers also calls these people savage subhumans.

And yet, the same book describes them as “subhuman savages”. Make it make sense.
