One of the lost traditions of the ancients was to blow air on a person’s body to expel spirits or bad energy.
The practice was used in Christianity, Islam, Buddhism, Hinduism, shamanism, traditional healing and folk magic. Once universally appreciated, the practice is now forgotten.
The online Dictionary says this:
In religious and magical practice, insufflation and exsufflation are ritual acts of blowing, breathing, hissing, or puffing that signify variously expulsion or renunciation of evil… or infilling or blessing with good (especially, in religious use, with the Spirit or grace of God).

THE INSUFFLATION He breathes thrice upon the waters in the form of a cross, saying: Do You with Your mouth bless these pure waters: that besides their natural virtue of cleansing the body, they may also be effectual for purifying the soul.
THE EXSUFFLATION. The priest breathes three times on the child in the form of a cross, saying: Go out of him…you unclean spirit and give place to the Holy Spirit.

Celsus reports the use of exsufflation by Egyptian magicians.

One of Lucian’s tall tales mentions a Chaldean pest-control sorcerer who causes toads and snakes to vanish by blowing on them

…in Westphalia, the healing of a wound by triple signing and triple cruciform sufflation, or by exsufflation accompanied by a rhyming charm; and in Holland the alleviation of toothache by similar means. According to Drechsler, “Illnesses were blown away by the breath. If a child had bumped himself, one would blow three times on the place and it would ‘fly away.'”
The Bible says that we were created with God’s breath. It also says we were “created in the image of God”. It therefore follows that our breathe is directly linked to our spirit.
Next time someone experiences a pain or fear try this: Identify the place in the body that doesn’t feel well. Point your finger at it and say: “In the name of the Most High, I command you to dissolve right now”. Then give it a couple of strong blows. You might be blown away at what happens.
