Radical Thought-Dropping and Ego-Mockery

When I was young, I developed this playful method of keeping the small Ego-self in its place.

I exaggerated ego-based thoughts but disrupted them mid-sentence. The tone is exaggerated but the statement never completed:

“How DARE….”

“Never EVER…”

“What the ACTUAL…”

“With all due respect….”

“Just who the heck do you think…”

“I absolutely and totally….”

“There is no way I will….”

“Are you out of your…”

“You are way out of your…”

“This is completely unac….”

“Why don’t you just shut the…”

“Mind your own….”

The Ego is the small part of you that is self-important. It thinks it’s a big shot. It wants to be right and make others wrong.

The statements above are typical ego statements. It’s not how your spirit/essence talks, it’s how the small, conceited ego talks.

The exercise is powerful. It helps you observe the petty self, elevating you to a position of higher-self, taking the high ground. Instead of suppressing the thought at the cost of energy, half of it is expressed, the other half is consciously dismissed as you take responsibility for dropping the thought and word.

It left some people puzzled, others laughed. Once people know what you’re doing, it’s funny.

I no longer do it today because such thoughts don’t show up anymore. My Ego knows better than to offer them. It’s not that these thoughts were loud in my mind, but even the slightest trace of them were brought to light in this manner.

You are the Boss of your Mind.
