Look beyond words to see what they are REALLY saying

Did you know there’s a “secret” way to find out what someone really thinks and feels?

Watch a video (debate or press conference) with the sound off. Look at what is being communicated by body language only.

It’s a simple exercise but as you repeat this precious gem💎of an awareness-practice, you soon become aware of a whole new world of subconscious communication. Body language tells you what’s really going on! Later, listen to what was said to see if words and motions are congruent.

80% of your communication is not through the words you say but from

tone of voice
body language
energy state.

Words can lie, but the body rarely lies because the movements are usually unconscious.

If tone, gestures and vibe are congruent, it matters a little less what you say. You can say the right things but it falls on deaf ears if the rest doesn’t match up. On the other hand, you can talk nonsense but will be applauded if it’s said with the right energy.

Have you ever said “I’ve heard this a million times but only listened when it was said by ________ (insert name of person)? You RESONATE with their energy, so you HEAR what they are saying.

As you learn about body-talk, the first thing to study are the hands. It is with your hands you throw around electricity all day. For example, open palms often show the person is telling the truth – a clue most people are not consciously aware of. It’s easier to tell a lie when the arms or hands are crossed because you then form a circuit ⏹️where your life force doesn’t transfer to the other. The crossing of hands or arms means the person is keeping their energy to themselves, for whatever reason, maybe skepticism, defensiveness or self-protection and sometimes when lying. REAL communication is transferred via energy!

The reason I prefer live-events, live-interviews, etc. because they won’t let you hide. I can’t hide, you can’t hide. Behind the computer screen it’s more difficult to determine a person’s REAL energy. Have you ever followed someone on social media only to learn that in real-life they are much worse/better? 🫢

Note: If you look at someone’s body-talk too intently, they notice that you notice. This makes them change their body-talk. Then it no longer serves to show their subconscious. So if you’re going to “notice”, do so softly, peripherally, instead of staring.

While open palms are perceived as honest (but exaggerating their use appears dishonest), someone pointing fingers at you is usually perceived as unpleasant or domineering. It’s a gesture to avoid except in emergencies that require rapid action. There are hundreds of hand gestures people make and they can all be “felt” while watching videos with sound off.

Once a person learns about body language their first step is to try to change their body language. This can work, but it’s EASIER to work on your inner emotion and MOTIVE than to change externals. Body language is a subconscious expression of your real thoughts. If you change one body signal but still feel the same, this one change becomes incongruent with the rest. For example you might stop crossing your arms or hands as much after reading this article, but if being-closed is your inner attitude, then other body parts will show this. I was in a crowded sauna the other day – a good place to have a closed circuit. As I opened my crossed arms, my head and back automatically went down to face the floor (which is another way to protect one’s energy). I noticed it, went back to upright and crossed my arms again. If I wanted to appear less closed, I’d have to soften my overall attitude toward crowded saunas.

Then body and voice naturally follow.
