Lies are generally more effective when hidden between several truths.
The telling of several truths acts like a hypnotic cue that suspends critical thinking. One tells an obvious truth, another truth and another, drawing in the listener. This is called “the YES street”. The person agrees over and over, becoming more likely to agree when the lie is finally placed.
“Seduction hypnotists” advise their followers to speak a series of obvious truths to put their “prey” into a state of “trance” (synchrony/resonance) before going in for the “kill” (seduction). This creepy behavior is routinely used in politics, religion and by “influencers”. A politician says the most agreeable things for some time so that we don’t notice the slow slide into unpopular policies.
An example in the video below. The presenter first debunks the “flashlight test” to prove the authenticity of shungite stone. He drops one truth after the other, debunking several lies of shungite-sellers in the process.
But then he ends the presentation with a shameless, self-promoting lie, as if he could just slip it in there without anyone noticing. I won’t tell you what it is, catch it yourself. I wouldn’t buy anything from a person who is intentionally lying because he has a low opinion of his customers and their intelligence.
I use it in reality creation – on self, not on others. Using the technique on self is the only positive use I’m aware of. You first state a series of truths such as “the sun is shining”, “this is a chair”, “cars drive” before slipping in something you’d like to manifest – “I experience quick recovery and perfect health within a few days”.
To protect yourself against the yes-street understand one simple rule:
Just because someone is telling a lot of truth doesn’t mean everything they say is the truth.
It’s no reason to suspend critical thinking. Leave a small dose of critical thinking on, especially when the speaker has something to sell.
If you use this technique in your own marketing, I recommend you quit, even though it works really well. Why? Because you’ll attract people who are easy to manipulate. Are those the kind of people you want to hang out with? If you wish to attract straightforward, mature and open people, BE that.
