Truth vs. Falsehood matters. But breaking free from belief-prisons matters more.
My first concern is not whether the “bigger earth theory” (image 1) is true. It’s that it helps people break a belief-prison.
“But my view of the earth is not a belief, it’s a scientific fact” some say. As long as you haven’t taken a high-altitude flight, personally seeing Earth from space, the mainstream model of Earth is a Belief. Anything you’re told and haven’t experienced, is a belief. Sure, maybe the mainstream model is correct. Pilots and astronauts attest to it. But even that, doesn’t make it a fact.
How many things in your world are considered a “fact” because someone said so? “Trust me bro”.
Human growth requires thinking beyond prior belief-systems. Curiosity is the tool you use to stretch consciousness. To dismiss something as false because it doesn’t match what you’ve been told is ignorant. You’ve been told “the economy is bad” so you don’t bother pursuing your dreams? That’s peak-ignorance.
Some of the new ideas you entertain turn out to be false, some true. But you’ll never know if you don’t stretch.
“Land beyond the ice-wall” is also a belief-system. It’s been thrown around for the last few hundred years, but as long as you haven’t personally traveled beyond the ice-wall and discovered new land, it remains a belief-system. This belief-system re-frames everything you thought you knew about the nature of the Earth.
The human spirit is a pioneering one and doesn’t like to be taught that “we already know everything and are only filling in the gaps”. The beyond-ice-wall belief shatters that and makes you feel like new discovery is near. That’s GREAT. Until a time the new belief turns into another belief-prison that blinds one to other possibilities. Once millions of parrots start parroting the new belief system, it’s no longer new and it’s no longer a stretch, it’s a new confinement.
There’s a difference between indoctrinated beliefs and beliefs you hold because you experienced it. Example: People who have been indoctrinated by force to believe in God tend to be more narrow-minded (fanatic religious or fanatic atheist) than people who believe in God because they’ve experienced.
Indoctrinating someone with the truth is not as valuable as letting them discover and experience a thing for themselves. You can force-feed this or that model of the Earth, but it’s all just talk until I’ve made my own high-altitude flight. Then I know the truth. And because I know it from sense-experience, I don’t feel the need to go around force-feeding it to people. People who are pushy about their belief-system haven’t experienced it and are now trying to convince themselves by convincing you.
Sooner or later you accept or dismiss the belief-system. This frees attention that you then focus on new ideas. If you have too many unanswered questions floating around, it puts attention in a holding pattern, at a cost to your energy.
Stretching beyond a belief-system makes it easier for you to see whether it’s true, because you’re seeing it from the outside. Appreciate the-way-things-are but also look from outside of it. There’s always a new viewpoint from which your current ideas look mediocre. Appreciate that you’re at level 6 but always remain aware of yourself at the next higher level – 7, etc. If you lose sight of the outside, you become stuck at your current level.
Sometimes your mind is quiet. You’re at peace. In these moments you are void of any belief or agenda. The other day I sat atop a mountain. The snow was so beautiful. Mixed with the distant voices of skiing children made my mind go blank for a while. In no-mind you see reality – the absolute – as it is, without belief-filters directing your perceptions.
Does that mean I should keep my mind quiet as much as possible and believe nothing?
No. If the mind is always quiet, you’re not experiencing much. Belief-bubbles are vehicles with which you can lens-focus in certain aspects of all-that-is and experience them. You should be able to occupy the no-mind state when needed but also enter a belief when needed. If you wish to improve your cash-flow you occupy the belief that you have improved your cash-flow.
Entering new beliefs is easier from a quiet mind state. Draw your new belief on a blank canvas. If your mind is noisy, there are already too many beliefs drawn on your canvas and they drown each other out without any manifesting fully.
The school of the future teaches children these things:
1. Entertaining Beliefs (which are thought-forms)
2. Entering Beliefs
3. Leaving or Releasing Beliefs
4. Discerning Belief vs. Absolute Reality
5. Stretching beyond previous knowledge
Without these skills one is subject to external manipulation. And with these skills you are free.
Notice anything interesting about how I phrased the last two sentences before this one?
