I’ve witnessed the last breathe of an old man. He had cancer and chose to die on the day the whole family was gathered for Christmas.
His moment of death was intentional. The whole family gathered around him because he was talking for the first time in days. He had chosen not to go to the hospital, this was in his bedroom. He thanked everyone and told them he loved them. Then he closed his eyes and took his last breathe.
In that moment I saw a white mist leave his mouth, ascend to and through the ceiling. I and one other person saw it. Others didn’t see it but they knew in that instant that his body was dead. His presence was no longer in the room. His passing was peaceful.
Is our moment of death predetermined or self-chosen? Maybe it depends on level-of-consciousness. Maybe it was pre-set that he dies around this time but he was given the option to choose the exact day in this case.
The white mist was similar to breathing in cold weather but a little brighter at its center, with a clear upward trajectory. I knew there was an afterlife but actually seeing the spirit leave the mouth was priceless. No amount of books or lectures can replace a first-hand experience.
I later learned that all cultures used to teach this, before “science” became our religion. Ancient mythology teaches the soul leaves the body through the mouth. The Bible says God breathed life into Adam.
Our essence or spirit is physically visible as a mist that travels on our breath.
