Apart from this physical aspect, there’s also a spiritual side to eating, unacknowledged by nutritionists.

You derive life force (prana, energy) from food by chewing longer. Most people don’t chew long enough. To absorb the energy, you chew until all the taste of the food is absorbed. Keep the food in your mouth three times longer than average.

This will also be much easier on your digestive system, by which even more energy is preserved.
