Ancient Air Cooling

Running water over unglazed, natural clay tubes or putting water inside the tubes reduces the air temperature by 10 to 30 Degrees, depending on how much water is used.

Clay contains pores that absorb and hold moisture. Hot air passing through and around stacked clay or terracotta tubes causes the moisture to evaporate. The evaporating water draws thermal heat from the surrounding air, dropping the local temperature significantly.

No electricity needed and easy to self-build.

The trickling water over warm clay produces a calming sound and emits an earthy scent similar to rain hitting dry ground.
