A basic survival set

In my basement I have a basic “survival set” which consists of the following items:

Several Propane Tanks

Filled fuel-canisters

An electricity generator that runs on fuel and propane

Starlink Equipment (which I use as backup when internet goes out, not permanently because I prefer cables to emf emitting wi-fi)

Canned food for several months

A couple of guns

A few thousand rounds of ammunition

Camping gear (fishing rods, baits, knives, small propane stoves and cooking utensils, water purifier, tents, etc.)

Binocluars

Yes, there’s a lot more I could stock, but I keep it simple because I don’t believe I’ll ever need this stuff long term.
People have been stockpiling for decades for civil war, zombie invasion, alien invasion, nuclear attack, apocalypse, etc. but it never happens. Nor is “survival” a top priority (the self never dies).

But recently there was a storm that knocked out electricity and internet for 8 days so generator & internet came in handy. Hundreds of people descended on one small local gas station, desperate for fuel, so it was good to have some ready in my basement. Folks had to throw away their food because fridges weren’t working. Their fancy Tesla cars couldn’t be charged. And they were complaining about cold showers (cold showers are a blessing but people don’t perceive it as such when it’s forced on them).

These things are easy to acquire and soften the blow of an emergency situation.
