Willpower Works 9: Free Will vs. Destiny

Is your life pre-destined or created by free-will? 20 years of psycho-spiritual counseling, intense research and dedication have lead me to believe that much of your life can be created by yourself and then some of it is pre-destined. There are those who believe everything is free will and those who believe everything is pre-destined and then there are those who believe everything is random. My own research agrees with neither of these stances and the reason there is so much ongoing debate and controversy around the subject is because each is true to some extent. I have summarized my own view of the influence of "Destiny", "Free Will" and "Randomness" in this pie chart:

I believe you can shape at least 65% of your reality through the choices you make and what you focus on in thought, word and deed. This however is the potential you have. Realistically, most people use their free will for around 10% of their reality and leave the rest up to destiny, karma and randomness. About 30% of life on earth seems not to be in your power but influenced by higher forces. Perhaps these 30% are your karma at work (positive or negative past life karma that you have accumulated). Maybe it is your soul/higher self at work, that has pre-defined a certain path in life that you cannot stray from. These pre-defined soul paths are usually very general though. They pre-define that you will not become a famous basketball player because your body is simply too short, or that you will grow up in a well-off household, etc. What you make of the pre-defined path is up to your free will. The remaining 30% may also be due to pre-programming by Source/Creator/God, as if to say "OK, the purpose of this soul is X, what this soul makes of it is their free choice". About 5% of events in ones reality appear to be random or of unknown causes. This is as if the creative intelligence behind realility introduced some randomness "just for fun".

This is reflected in many of the games (boardgames, sports games, computer games) we play on earth. A part of those games are pre-determined (such as the game rules, the field size, the skills), a small part seems random and a large part is determined by ones own choices, moves, imagination and willpower.

Please keep in mind that I may be wrong about the ratio of the three factors and also that very many bright minds will disagree with me one way or the other. There are scientists out there trying to prove that we have zero free will. There are also metaphysicians out there trying to prove that everything is 100% created by you. I publish this pie chart so that you can start thinking about the ratio yourself and check for yourself what is true.

My view is that, of your own power, you can fix around 65% of all issues in your life. For the remaining 35% it is not certain whether they will be fixed or not. In this case you either accept them (play the cards you were dealt) or request higher-source (divine will) support.
