The Secret of Rainbows

"Somewhere over the rainbow, skies are blue, and the dreams that you dare to dream, really do come true". - L.F. Baum

Legend has it that at the end of the rainbow there is a "golden pot" that will make you rich. Variations of this legend can be found in Ireland and in Norse as well as Slavic Mythology. Is this just some fairy tale or could there be a deeper metaphysical meaning behind it, one that might contribute to your prosperity?

Interestingly, the "end of a rainbow" cannot be seen by the observer who is standing at that precise spot, it can only be seen from afar. That shows that you cannot rely only on your eyes to find the elusive pot of gold but need to "feel yourself to it". Another interesting phenomenon is that rainbows look and appear differently and even shaped and located differently to each observer. This makes it more ethereal than normal physical matter which looks pretty much the same to anyone, and even more ethereal than water and light alone (of which rainbows are a mix).

There many be more to rainbows than meets the eye because every ancient tradition seems to link it to something mystical. You can see the Rainbow being described as a link from Heaven to Earth or as a sacred symbol in the ancient Mythologies of Greece, China, Japan, Persia and Sumeria. Arabic, Germanic and Judaic legends say that no more rainbows will appear when the end of the world is near. In Genesis it is said that there were no rainbows in pre-flood times and that rainbows symbolize that the earth will not again be destroyed by floods. Rainbows come about through the interplay of water and light, rude physical matter need not be involved. In this context it is interesting that the original Hebrew scripture of the Old Testament uses the same word for River and for Light, indicating the energy-stream-like qualities of both. In Hinduism the colors of the rainbow represent the colors of the 7 chakras ascending from the red root chakra to the highest violet one and thus also reminds us of the world-as-energy.

The most obvious connection to higher states of Consciousness is that Rainbows are simply a beautiful sight to behold, and as you behold beauty, your vibration increases. The qualities of light and the qualities of water reflect the qualities of that invisible energy. The principle of non-resistance is best reflected by water that resists nothing and therefore flows to its destination without effort. Elsewhere I have described the principle of reality creation as the "Light of Source" breaking up into a prismatic spectrum of colors representing various frequencies and levels of energy. Maybe this is why so many like to spend their vacation in light and near water. By being close to both you learn from them. Maybe then you give up your search for Gold and instead become the luminous rainbow that itself points to Gold.
